JEWELRY CARE
Our jewelry is delicate by nature—small, finely crafted, and meant to be worn as cherished everyday. We encourage gentle, mindful care so each piece can remain luminous and true for years to come.
Simple habits we recommend: remove your rings when undertaking rough hand work that could risk damaging a stone or altering the band's shape. We also suggest taking your jewelry off before washing your hands, showering, or sleeping.
OPALS
Opals are unique and beautiful gemstones that require special care to maintain their brilliance and prevent damage. While we take great pride in selecting our opals and gemstones, and guarantee exceptional quality, we recommend being gentle with your opal jewelry in general.
Understanding your opals are important. Opals contain water (typically 5-10%) and are softer than many other gemstones, ranking 5.5-6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale. This makes them more delicate and requiring gentle handling.
Follow these guidelines to keep your opal jewellery looking stunning for years to come.
When cleaning, opals should be gently wiped with a damp soft cloth and mild detergent. Opals are sensitive to extreme temperatures and for this reason we strongly recommend not wearing your opal jewelry in the shower, spas, hot tubs, etc. Please avoid bleach, chemicals and cleaners as these can damage the stone and the use of an ultrasonic cleaner, as the intense vibrations may cause cracking.
SAPPHIRES
Sapphires are among the most durable coloured gemstones we offer—sharing exceptional hardness and resilience that makes them ideal for everyday wear.
While they maintain their brilliance beautifully over time, rings set with these stones may show gentle signs of wear after many years of use. Their strength still allows for confident, long-term wear with proper care.
To keep them sparkling: gently brush with a soft toothbrush and mild jewelry cleaner, rinse thoroughly with warm water, and dry with a clean, soft microfiber cloth.
Sapphires and rubies can safely be steam cleaned or placed in an ultrasonic cleaner for a deeper refresh when desired.
DIAMONDS
Diamonds are the hardest natural gemstone, offering exceptional durability and resistance to scratching over a lifetime. While they rarely wear down, they can still chip or abrade under heavy impact. We recommend removing your diamond jewelry before exercising or rough hand activities.
Clean at home by gently brushing with a soft toothbrush and mild jewelry cleaner, rinsing with warm water, and drying with a soft microfiber cloth.
Diamonds can safely be steam cleaned or ultrasonically cleaned for deeper refresh.
GOLD
Our gold jewelry is crafted from solid 14k or 18k gold—pure 24k gold expertly alloyed for lasting strength and timeless beauty.
It’s natural for gold to develop gentle signs of wear over time—fine markings and subtle shifts in finish are simply part of its story and add to its personal charm.
To keep it radiant, soak in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth, or gently polish with a jewelry cloth to restore shine. An ultrasonic cleaner can be used safely for deeper refresh. Avoid contact with chlorine or harsh chemicals (found in pools, hot tubs, and household cleaners), as prolonged exposure can weaken the metal over time.
With mindful care, your Sovea gold pieces will continue to glow beautifully for years to come.
PLATINUM
Platinum jewelry is highly durable, hypoallergenic, and resistant to tarnish (unlike silver), but it can still accumulate dirt, oils, and minor surface scratches over time, which may make it look dull. With proper care, it maintains its natural white luster for years. Here's a comprehensive guide based on standard jewelry expert recommendations.
To keep it radiant, soak in warm soapy water and dry with a soft cloth, or gently polish with a jewelry cloth to restore shine. An ultrasonic cleaner can be used safely for deeper refresh. Avoid contact with chlorine or harsh chemicals i.e. in pools, hot tubs, and household cleaners. Platinum is softer than some gems but denser than gold.
STERLING SILVER
Our sterling silver jewelry naturally evolves over time—its finish gently shifts with your unique skin chemistry, how often you wear it, and how it’s stored. Silver loves to be worn, as your skin’s natural oils can help slow tarnishing and keep it glowing. With simple care, your pieces will stay luminous and cherished for years.
To remove tarnish, gently rub your piece with a soft silver polishing cloth to restore its brilliance and shine. For heavier tarnish, use a specialised silver dip. You’re always welcome to contact us for professional polishing advice or assistance.
Avoid exposing silver to chlorine or harsh chemicals found in pools, hot tubs, and household cleaners, as these can weaken the metal and make it brittle. Tarnish, fine scratches, dullness, or subtle colour changes are completely normal and part of silver’s beautiful, personal story over time.
